OBSTACLE COURSE AND AGILITY COMPETITION
The obstacle course is the ultimate test for any athlete. The obstacle course
is the first part of the competition. The course consists of 200 yards of
obstacles. The obstacle part of the competition is a timed event. The overall
times from the obstacle course and scores from the agility round are combined
for overall winners in individual age groups and there will be overall winners
also. Every athlete gets two attempts on the course. There will be a practice
session on the course the day of the competition.
The course is comprised of:
· 10 Foot wall
· Balance beam
· Incline/Decline monkey bars
· Running grid
· 15 Foot cargo net
· Low crawl
· 4 hurdles
· A-Frame
· Under and Over bars
The second part of the competition is the agility round. This event is comprised
of two events. Every athlete must compete in both parts of the competition.
· 100 yard freestyle swim
· Pull up competition
The 100-yard swim
The 100-yard swim consists of four 25-yard laps freestyle in a regulation swimming pool. The event will be started with an option of a dive off of a regulation starting block or starting in the pool. Athlete must touch edge of the pool with foot or hand to register as a lap. No floating devices or paddles are allowed during competition. The lowest times wins.
The Pull up competition
Athlete begins the pull-up hanging from the horizontal bar. Arms are fully extended, hands position is shoulder width or slightly wider than shoulders. Grip is with palms forward or neutral grip (palms facing in) hands must be shoulder width apart or wider..
Athlete pulls the body straight up until the chin is over the bar. The body is then lowered straight down to the hanging position with the arms fully extended (feet must not touch the floor.) This is one repetition.
If athlete does not maintain proper form, or if body does
not remain straight at all times, that repetition will not count. Athlete
should breathe out as he pulls body up and breathe in as he lowers body down.
However many pull-ups the athlete performs is how many points will be received.
The fitness routine is an optional event. This event is separate from the challenge and there are separate winners for best routines. Judges are looking at endurance, flexibility, choreography, strength and presentation. Routines may include aerobics, gymnastics, cheerleading and any other athletic talent. Props are allowed but must be approved first. The stage generally consists of 20’X 40’ area. Athletes will perform a maximum 2-minute routine.
Physique round and Interview round
This event is for women only and is an optional event. A separate award is given for this part of the competition and is not included in the challenge. The judges will be scoring on symmetry, quarter turns, proportion, muscle tone, presentation, overall physical appearance, hair, make-up and overall poise. During this round women will be asked a question related to health and fitness. Judges will be looking at speech, confidence, poise and how the athlete handles herself during this round.
